Askerhaklari.com is the Soldiers’ Rights website which raises awareness on human rights violations and cruel treatment of soldiers during their military service. The members of the group organise and advocate for soldiers’ rights through their website.
LISTAG is a voluntary group for family and friends of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual people in Istanbul.

The Gezi Movement emerged from the 2013 protests in Turkey. The proteses started on 28 May initially to contest the urban development plan for Istanbul’s Taksim Gezi Park. The protests were sparked by outrage following a brutal evictioin of a sit-in at the park. Sunsequently supporting protests and strikes took place across Turkey protesting a wide range of concerns. The protests attracted relatively little mainstream media coverage in Turkey and social media played a key role.
